More Races! YIPEE!!!!

Awards at the Canyons. 2nd place!!!
This was on the gondola ride at the Canyons. My parents and my brother and sister and their kids came to watch the race. We all stayed in a hotel and it was so nice to just ride over to the race in the morning!
Right off the start at the Canyons
Jed and I after the Sundance weekly race in the mud!

So here is how the last few races went down...
Weekly Race Series:
We have had two. I only raced one, last week we had some issues. Jed and I were out preriding at Soldier Hollow and his tire exploded on the road, literally! It freaked me out it was so loud. All the racers were lined up to go, so he didn't have time to patch it and we didn't have a tube (LAME!) so I told Jed to just take my bike and go. It was a split second decision so yes, Jed ended up riding my pink bike. Ha ha for him. It is much much lighter than his, and smaller, so he flew off the trail and into the trees a few times. :) I got to stay and hang out and talk to Stuart Fraser as I watched the race. It was pretty fun, cause I found out he does hair, so I was asking him how to tame my annoying natural curl. :) It was different watching everyone go by in pain. I was thinking, why do I ever do that? It does not look fun! :) Just kidding, I was jealous. Then we had the muddy rainy race at Sundance. That was AWESOME. I was not excited at first, the first lap I was like "Yuck this is not fun!" But the second when I was sliding everywhere and couldn't hardly even hike without my feet sliding I decided it was really quite the adventure.
Canyons ICUP Season Finale
This was a way better race for me than Snowbasin and a great way to end the ICUP season. I ended up taking second place. I don't know how it ended up that way, but it did and I was excited!!! I got to preride, which I normally don't have time for. Jed and I went up monday with Cody and Beth and had a great time. It is such a beautfiful course. I love the Park City/Canyons area. I also got to do a road ride Tuesday morning up to Payson lakes with Patty and Jeanette which was a blast. I think I am going to incorporate more road rides to train. Wed was the weekly race series so I felt pretty warmed up for Saturday. The race started out soooo embarrassing for me. I felt great and busted ahead and then on this steep uphill I was not in the right gear, which I should have known better and I totally spun out and messed everyone up. I just apologized a million times throughout the whole race. Then pretty quickly I caught up to Cat and some other girls. Cat was having some issue and was stopped. I passed them and somewhere along the way I was in 2nd place. I knew Tiffany was somewhere close behind. On the downhill section called Robs Tiff caught me, I was so ticked! :) I hate getting passed on the down. I know a lot of it is my poor downhill skills, but also Tiff is just taller and her bike weighs more. I am afraid for when she gets a lighter bike!!! :) Merianne(?) was coming along too. She caught me on the uphill on the second lap, she was way strong on the uphill. Then I caught her again on the downhill switchbacks and managed to stay ahead. Then towards the end of race I saw Tiff with a flat. I felt bad passing her, it isn't very fun to get second because someone got a flat, so I kept telling her how sorry I was. But all in all I felt like it was a good race. I knew I couldn't catch Angelica, but maybe next year!!!
