To Buy or Not to Buy the Bike

I looked at this bike today at a shop in Provo, not Mad Dog, :( but this bike is a GREAT price, it is an 08 Era Marathon, for $1999 normally $4000. So now the dilemma, do I buy it or wait? I am taking this bike out for a test ride either tomorrow or Monday. So I am excited to see if I like it. Opinions any fellow bikers?? Do you know anything about the brain technology of the specialized bikes, do you like it? Is it comparable to the Gary Fisher Superfly? It only weighs 24 lbs!!! Yeehaw (oh and don't you love the beauteous Pink? I sure do, but I am girly that way)

If I had to choose b/n the superfly or the marathon, I'd take the superfly, no question. Although there aren't many bikes that I'd choose over the epic/era, it's a sweet bike. The brain rear shock really works. My brother just got a superfly and he loves it, but it is a single speed as well. One more thing... 29ers rock, I just got a rigid 29er and I can't tell you how much I love riding it. You should give one a try before going for the era. Hard to pass on such a good deal though.

Is this Melanie or Zac? I have been wondering if I would like a 29er, I feel like I would be so high up, but if Melanie has one, than that would make me feel better about it cause we are about the same height. I know I would love a superfly more, but is it worth the extra 2000$? I just don't know!!! I guess I would have to try riding one, but how???? :) I don't know anyone who has a small superfly.

I know nothing about bikes - but I do like the pink!

It is Zach. I guess the only way to know if you'll feel too high off the ground with a 29er is to try one. Mel's never ridden one. It's probably not worth the extra 2k, unless you have an extra 2k laying around. Go test ride any 29er in the size that fits you and see. I have heard that they are a better fit for taller riders, so they have made some changes for shorter riders.

The pink looks awesome. Really you can't go wrong with the era, you'll love it.

Thanks for the input Zach, I really appreciate it! Now you just need to send Melanie out, or better yet, both of you come out to go ride some trails with us!!! I bet there are some fun ones out there, maybe we need to make a trip out that way! :)
