We just took a short but sweet little trip to Moab Utah. We left the kids at my mom and dad's Thursday night and got to Moab at about 9pm, had dinner at Miguels Baja Cantina (YUM! Jed got chile rellenos that were soooo good) and the we went to our campsite and watched Master's of Stone 6 (funny climbing movie that Jed surprised me with) which was really fun. Then we got up bright and early and headed to Slickrock bike trail. Now this was the sad part of the day for me...I totally was freaked out and pretty much being the biggest wimp ever. I don't know why, I had done slickrock before and wasn't scared or maybe I just wasn't remembering being scared on it. I would be at the top of a hill looking down and just would panic and think "I can't do this!". It was making me so mad at myself. I was so tense and I knew I had the strength for it but it was just completely mental. This has happened to me before. I have a tendency to be one of those "what if" people. I think "what if I am going down this and fall how bad will it hurt" and so on. Or what if I try to make it up this obstacle and fall over. Anyways, after my whining and feeling sorry for myself Jed made me turn around. We were only a third of the way through it if that, so I pretty much rode out in tears. So we went back into town and had breakfast at the Jailhouse cafe, and then decided to go do the sovereign trail. This trail was still pretty technical but I just walked on the parts that freaked me out and had a lot of fun. Then we went and walked around town a bit more and decided we had time for one more trail. We headed to Amasa Back. It was totally fun!! I had relaxed so much and did great on the uphill, loved the beautiful scenery and actually did most of the downhill and felt FINE! I think I just need to live in Moab and then I would be way more comfortable. :) It just took a few rides to get there! :) It was so much fun to be with Jed and away. I missed the kids but we needed to go out and have some fun. Jed of course would definitely live in Moab if he could.

That sounds like so much fun! How long were you there?
Just one night and one full day! Went by fast but it was perfect. I could get used to those quick little getaways!
Umm..Hello! you have a blog and I didn't know about it! I'm glad because now I can see what you guys are up too. I'm so jealous of your Moab trip, we love Moab! The last and only time I did slickrock was with you guys, how funny! I remember you were a little bit nervous about the trail that day, but you had a good reason to be (a little chloe embryo reason). Hmmm...makes me wonder...any good reasons this time :) I really liked the Amasa back trail too, although Zach was annoyed at how slow I was. I'm glad you could take a kids free trip. We took one to Banff for a week in July. Anyways, I'm bummed we won't be seeing you guys over the holidays, I'll be about to have a baby so no traveling. here's our blog by the way http://www.pitcherspost.blogspot.com/
