I really wanted to get some miles in today. I looked at the weather and knew it wasn't going to be pretty. I could run 10 miles instead with the girls, or do the 50 mile ride to west mountain from my house. Running in the snow is always better than biking in it, but I am afraid for Leadville and Rawrod and have hardly been on my bike longer than 3 hours lately. Last night as we got into bed Jed asked me what I was going to do. I seriously couldn't decide. So at 5:30am I woke up and looked outside and decided it looked dry enough, just a light drizzle. I couldn't convince anyone to come with me, so around 7:30 I went for it. I was half expecting to call Jed along the way to come rescue me. I gave him a map just in case. The ride was beautiful, when I got out to Lake Shore I was thinking "Where AM I?" Nothing looked familiar but it was beautiful. The map was clear as mud, I didn't get lost. I felt like I was on my own little exploration out there. It was so fun to see all the orchards and the lake and I didn't even mind the snow falling around me. Until the last 10 miles. The snow started to pile up on my shoulders. It started to really come down and I felt pretty cold, my toes especially. As I was crossing the bridge across the freeway back home I saw Jed drive by. I called him, and he was coming out to find me. Ha ha! So he drove along side me the last mile. Pretty funny. I was SOAKED! and FROZEN. It was awesome, I felt pretty dang proud of myself. I was supposed to do 6-8 hours on the bike today, and I was kinda slow but I think this will do. :) Then I got to go eat yum Einsteins (Yum bagels!) with Kelly and go to the BiJou boutique. Fun day! I bought some sweet vintage lunch trays, the kinds with the dividers. They are pretty cool.

I am glad your ride went okay. I have been wondering all day if you were okay. I have been on enough wet, cold rides to know the first is great, but by the end you are a cold, wet popsicle. Way to conquer 50 miles!!!
