This past weekend was the 1st ICUP race of the year. I was so excited to be able to go to this race. Jed had a business trip to Europe this week so I was nervous that I would have to miss the race. I really didn't want to miss it, since it is one of my favorites. I really wanted to see where I was fitness wise and get a feel for where I am at. Luckily once again my parents watched the kids for me while Jed was gone. They are awesome. I am so lucky to have their support. I had one of my best races ever. Plus it was just a super fun trip with great friends. The whole feel of this race was just pure energy. Everyone was excited to race again. It is so great to see the same crowd and catch up with everyone. It was sooo warm and beautiful down there too. Can I just say I LOVE LOVE ST GEORGE!!!! I think I just need to retire there when I get old and get sick of this freezing weather. Heck I am ready to live there now! As far as the race went, we had 17 women in the Sport division, which is a huge turnout. It was just awesome to be one the starting line with so many biking chicas! Right off the start I felt really strong and focused. I had envisioned the race in my mind the few days before, picturing myself being able to tackle the technical sections. Well everything went great, the parts that had scared me in the past were no problem. I had the lead the whole first lap and a half, and then lost it on one of the climbs. The girl behind me (I think her name is Lori), kept me working super hard the whole race. She was apologizing after, saying she should have ridden expert. I was like "NO WAY! You made me have an awesome race, it was so fun to be pushed so much." Gayle and Wendy had some flats. Such a bummer, because Gayle was coming after me! And I wanted Wendy to be able to race her new bike!!! Man I love my Superfly. It is just awesomely amazing. I ended up with second place. Happy happy day. So excited for this season!

I am so glad you are writing all this down! It is so hard to think about it all when all the little kids are talking in the background. This way I can re-read and really think about what you accomplished! I am so proud of you! You are too modest and should have said you almost got first place!
Wow Heather! So happy you are enjoying life so much, you are amazing!
